The new Soar Valley u3a Golf group will join players from Charnwood u3a's existing Golf group, which plays Wednesday commencing 9.15 and Friday commencing 9.00.
Groups usually play anytime from 9.00 am to 11.00 am depending on who is available. There is no booking at the course required.
Play is at Shelthorpe Golf Course in Loughborough. It’s an eighteen hole par three course. Please do not expect a high quality professional course.
Costs at concessionary rates are £6.10 for eighteen holes, or £107 for an annual membership. Most regular players opt after a short time to pay for the year for unlimited play and unlimited days.
Contact to play other players is made via an established WhatsApp group where you enter the day and time you can play. Golf can either be played singly or up to a group of four. If more than four agree to play we will split on the day.
We have new starters who have never played before, up to players with 20 years experience. No one takes it seriously, we play for exercise, fresh air and company.
No special clothes or footwear are required. Clubs can often be borrowed or for a taster session lent on the day. Most players if they come regularly will buy second hand clubs to keep the cost down.
