For the second year in a row, East Leake Village Hall was chosen for our winter coffee morning on 17th January 2025. Existing members had an opportunity to meet up for a chat, and non-members were also invited to come along to find out more about Soar Valley u3a. Several groups set up displays.
This was mainly a recruiting exercise. Up to a hundred visitors came through the doors and group leaders and others were kept pretty busy with enquiries. Some filled vacant places: interest was even expressed in forming three new groups. And nearly 30 application forms and plenty of leaflets were distributed, so we’re looking forward to welcoming new members in the near future. In fact, it was announced at the January General Meeting that 21 new members joined us this month.
Our thanks to the organisers and helpers: Ruth, two Carols, Alison, Yvonne, Gill, Judith, Sue and Mel, and to all the group leaders involved.
We’ll also be taking part at a ‘Meet the Village’ event on 22nd February morning at the hall, where a variety of East Leake based organisations will be showcasing their activities.
