u3a is a self-help organisation that provides educational, creative and leisure opportunities for people who are no longer in full time employment - including people who are retired, semi-retired or working part time.
There are over a thousand local, independently managed u3as across the UK, all charities and all run by volunteers. Members organise interest groups in line with the wishes of the membership.
The national representative body for all u3as in the UK is the Third Age Trust.
Soar Valley u3a
Soar Valley u3a welcomes members from Costock, East Leake, Gotham, Kegworth, Normanton on Soar, Sutton Bonington, and adjacent areas.
We are a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends – all while learning, laughing and living life to the full.
Our main purpose, as stated in our Constitution, is to encourage lifelong learning for those no longer in full time employment. We are affiliated to the Third Age Trust and are members of The Association of East Midlands u3as and the Nottinghamshire Network of u3as. We are a Registered Charity (Number 1101205).
