Why not give Snooker a go?

Snooker Group leader Colin B on what the group gets up to:

Snooker, I believe, is one of the earliest of the Soar Valley u3a groups. I tried to check this with one of the original members but drew a blank due to fading memories with the passage of time. I joined in 2006, or was it 2007, and I have difficulty remembering who all the members were at that time, clearly snooker does not, it seems, improve the memory. However the most recent member to retire was 94, so perhaps it is good for longevity.

At present we have about ten members  who play regularly and they display a wide range of skill and ability and, whist some take the game seriously, most of us play for the sheer pleasure of potting the odd red, occasionally followed by a colour. I can honestly say that maximum breaks are unheard of and nobody has been offered a session at The Crucible. We would welcome a few more members of either sex, until recently we have always had one or two lady members, so come on everybody and give snooker a go.

We play every Wednesday  morning  from 10am until noon  at Spot-on, Kenilworth Ave, Loughborough LE11 4SL. It is a club so there is an annual membership fee £19 plus a charge of circa £7 for a table for two for 2 hrs, there is car parking on site. Food and drinks are available from the bar. If you don’t have your own cue these are available for free for the session.  If you think you would like to give Snooker a go please get in touch with Group Contact Colin B.
